Eric Weit's love of weaving began as a young boy when he would accompany his grandmother to weaving and spinning demonstrations. When he reached college age, he decided to enroll in an art school in Mareitta, Pennsylvania. But, those early memories of weaving, looms, and patterns stayed with him. One day he found himself having to help his grandmother care for his ailing grandfather. He spotted one of his grandmother's looms, and he simply had to try it out. In due course his grandmother gave Eric her looms and, since, he's acquired a 200 year old 50-inch barn loom (soon to be converted from 4-harness into a 16-harness configuration).
Eric's patterns lean toward the contemporary but with a respectful nod to tradition. He lives and works in the quaint town of Akron, Pennsylvania in the heart of Amish Country. His wife, Georgeanne, helps Eric manage the workload at StudioWeit and offers that necessary critical eye and surge of inspiration.
